Danish pop rock band, founded in 2008 by Bo Rande (keyboards and trumpet), Fridolin Nordsø (drums), Kristian Leth (lead vocals and guitars) and Frederik Nordsø (guitars). Their debut album was called ‘Wayne Coyne’ in an homage to the lead singer of the Flaming Lips. Both the debut album and the follow-up ‘Dear Unknown Friend’ (2009) were recorded each in less than a week in the band’s house in Sweden.
In 2009, the William Blakes and Spleen United appeared in a Danish TV programme, performing their own songs. They also performed a song together: a cover version of Running Up That Hill.
The band has won two Danish Music Awards for ‘Best Album’ 2011 and ‘Best Rock Group’ 2011. They have also won the Danish Crown Prince and Princess’ Culture Award 2012 and the Gudman Foundation Award 2012.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_William_Blakes
The band created their own record label Speed of Sound to release their albums. The label has since become a label that also releases albums by other artists and bands.
