Brian Tench kicked off his career in music in the late 1970’s, starting fresh out of school as tape operator at Mayfair Studios. He swiftly moved on to assisting , all the while honing his skills in engineering and mixing. Brian worked with some of the biggest pop names of the time, including Hello, Slik and the Bay City Rollers, later progressing to projects with new romantics such as Visage and Landscape. his first full production job was Bow Wow Wow’s single ‘Go Wild in the Country’ (1982). In 1985, he engineered and mixed on Kate’s album Hounds Of Love. His voice can be heard in the track Waking The Witch.
He was lucky enough to work alongside the late legendary producer Arif Mardin, mixing Phil Collins and Marylin Martin’s duet ‘Separate Lives’ and co-producing the Bee Gees’ ‘ESP’, including the single ‘You Win Again’. Other great producers that he has worked with include Terry Britten (Tina Turner) and Andy Hill (Bucks Fizz).More recent projects include albums with Carlinhos Brown; Bill Wyman; London Community Gospel Choir’s 21st Anniversary Concert, ‘Recorded live at Abbey Road’ in 2003; and Midge Ure including ‘Breathe’ (1996) and ‘Ten’ (2008).
