Something Like A Song

'Cathy Demos Volume Three' - EP cover

'Cathy Demos Volume Three' - EP cover

Song written by Kate Bush. Recorded as a demo, presumably in 1973. The song has never been released officially, but it did end up on the withdrawn LP The Early Years and various bootlegs. The song is also known as 'Garden By The Willow' and 'In My Garden'.

The demo appears on the bootleg 7" single 'Cathy Demos Volume Three' and various bootleg CD's.

Lyrics

There's something that sounds like a song
In my garden, by the willow
A piper:
"Oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, hoooo"

I see him when I turn the lights down low,
In my garden, wading through the pond.
Rest and sing: "Lover oooooooh..."
"Oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, hoooo"

I've called him by every name I know,
By every name I know,
But he won't answer me.
He keeps coming forward, but never moving.
Is there no destiny here?

It sounds like a song
In my garden, by the willow--
A piper:
"Oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, oohoo, ahoo, hoooo"
