Justin Pearson has been Principal Cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra, Guest Principal cello of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Sinfonia Orchestras. He has been Andrew Lloyd Webbers principal cellist for recordings and shows for some 20 years.

Justin is Artistic Director and manager of the Locrian Ensemble of London. He has written award-winning scripts for plays with music that have been performed in London’s West End, also at many festivals in Britain and abroad. Justin has recorded for many labels, including Hyperion, Naxos, Guild, ASV, Dutton Epoch and Carlton Classics. He has also produced independent programmes for BBC Radio 3, featuring the chamber music of Ginastera and Glière. Justin serves as a governor to the Royal Society of Musicians, a charity that supports musicians in need, and is musical patron of Sunbeams Music Trust in Cumbria.

He has played on albums with artists as diverse as Jose Carreras, Westlife, Madonna, The Spice Girls, James Galway, Tina Turner, Take That, Shirley Bassey, Pavarotti and U2, to name but a few. He has also appeared live in concert with Oasis.

He played cello on Kate’s song Reaching Out.
