The Comic Strip is a group of British comedians who came to prominence in the 1980’s. They became known for their television series The Comic Strip Presents… which was labelled as a pioneering example of the alternative comedy scene. The core members were Adrian Edmondson, Dawn French, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer, Lenny Henry, Miranda Richardson, Peter Richardson, Jennifer Saunders and Alexei Sayle, with frequent appearances by Keith Allen, Robbie Coltrane and others.
The Comic Strip Presents… debuted on 2 November 1982, the opening night of Channel 4. Between 1982 and 1993 five series were produced, as well as four specials and three feature films. Since 1998, six more specials were produced as well as one feature film. With most of its members now small-screen legends, Comic Strip output has become more and more sporadic.
In three of the episodes, Kate Bush was involved: she provided music for the episode GLC: The Carnage Continues… and appeared in the episode Les Dogs. Ywo years later, she contributed music to the episode Wild Turkey.
