Diamond Jim Greene was born and raised in Chicago. He learned to play the guitar after meeting Blind Arvella Gray, a street performer in Chicago.
He performed in numerous blues band configurations over the years including with the Southern California-based, all acoustic, Blues Ambassadors during the mid 1980’s.

Since 1995, he toured extensively throughout Europe. In 1995, he recorded the album ‘Just A Dream’ in the Netherlands. He made a name for himself performing at the Chicago Blues Festival, the Long Beach Blues Festival and several years in the International Blues Festival at Lucerne (Switzerland).

In 1998, he contributed a cover version of Home For Christmas to the fan-made compilation album I Wanna Be Kate.

More recent releases have been ‘Snapshots’ (2003), ‘Holdin’ On’ (2005) and ‘Surrounded’ (2012).
