The Prophet 5 came out in January 1978. It was the last synthesizer made by the Sequential Circuits Corporation (SCI). It was the first totally programmable synthesizer on the market. Sounds were produced through voltage-controlled oscillators rather than digital samples. The Prophet 5 was quite advanced in its day; it was possible to play five notes on the keyboard at one time. The Prophet 5 is played by Mike Moran on the song Egypt.
