‘Comfortably Numb’ is a song written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters and recorded by Pink Floyd on the album The Wall (1979). The chorus melody was written by Gilmour while Waters contributed the lyrics and the music for the verses. An early version of the song was included under the working title on the ‘Immersion Box Set’ of The Wall, released in 2012.

Gilmour has performed the song during each of his solo tours. In 2001 and 2002 he used various guest singers during the song. On 18 January 2002, Kate Bush appeared alongside David Gilmour to sing the song on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London. It was her first public live performance since 1987.
